DIE ALTEN:
|
|
Die Alten was a German New Wave Band, named after the "The Old Ones", cosmic gods in the works of
the horror author H. P. Lovecraft. Die Alten gigged the South German scene between 1982 and 1984
and released 3 demo tapes. The permanent members Barbara (voice, keyboards), Schilli (bass) and Schneller
(Guitar) made their first musical experiences with the "Familie Hesselbach" predecessor „ABC“, the London
psychobilly band
„The Demonic Wardrobes” and Reutlingen's first punkband „Vermin“, later „Name“. The first demo tape „Die Alten + UEQ“ was recorded in 1982 together with drummer Knacki. On the b-side were 2 songs by Schilli and Schneller, presenting under the pseudonym „UEQ“ a more electronic sound, which was typical for the second demo „Mitternacht“. On "Mitternacht" Karin joined the band on trumpet, and a rhythm machine took over the drumming job. Most of the Alten gigs were played with this line-up. On the last demo „Die Alten 3: Noch mehr Arbeit“ 1984 drummer Roman replaced Karin. After a few more gigs Die Alten split up and Schilli and Schneller founded the hardcore punk band „Genossen“. All three demos are now available on CD plus the bonus track "Jeden Morgen, jeden Tag", a contribution to a tape compilation of the Tuebingen based "Infam" label. For CD orders contact here! |
